The Benedictine sisters had a great effect on my spiritual and academic development. Two in particular, Sr. Anselma & Sr. Gertrude, at St. Leo’s in Fairfax, way back in the 1950’s. These were their names in religion. I gave no idea what their birth names were. Sr. Anselma most surely has long ago gone to her reward. Not sure about Sr. Gertrude. We had several Benedictines at St. Leo’s. While they were strict with us, I remember them also as being lots of fun at time.
