It's a great place, ignore all the whiners they were crying and whining 14 years ago about the influx of people. Nice areas grow, with it comes money. Those of you who "lived there your lives" if you do not like the change, lol come on now. .even after 14 years, i got around fine. You bitched about it 14 years ago, you're gonna be bitching about it for another 14. Was not anything different than to what it was back then. Oh and from what we saw, housing is still very affordable.
Third generation Bend here...no more people please. We don't want your business or money despite what you might believe. We were fine without the booming tourism and we have lost our sense of community and our housing. Please find another slice of heaven to exploit.
Bend is not as great as VisitBend leads you to believe. First off, 300 days of sunshine is a flat out lie- I know cause I live here. Its more like 150. And you californians should know we get snow. Playing in it is one thing- living in it is another. Also, all these lovely spots this article speaks about are now over run with tourists and not much fun anymore because of it. Don't come here. we don't want you here. There are enough stupid tourists here. And even more stupid people moving here and trying to turn it into California. This used to be a great little town now it filled with ass holes.
Beautiful! !!! Mountains, rivers, lakes, camping, fishing, basically an outdoors adult playground! !!! Will always be one of my favorite destinations!!!!
