About this business
Nicholas M. Benachi, a consul of Greece, built this grand house in 1858. Located on the intersection of Bayou Road and Esplanade Avenue, Benachi House is considered to be quite an exotic presence. Jim Derbes, who received the 1985 Honor Award for restoration, has brought it to its present beauty. Appointments all through the house are descended from various styles such as Victorian, Rococo revival, Gothic, classical and Empire.

Love Chris and Jess. They were industry pros long before coming into ownership of Derbes, and I think that's why they're so easygoing when it comes to vendors. They truly will work with anyone and will do it kindly. Their contract is incredibly generous (you pick everything, flexible hours, etc.). More than that, I appreciate how much they love this old home. They go to great lengths to restore and preserve it for the community. It's a treasure, but so they are because they chose to share it with all of us.
The Derbes is a stunning venue where you'll feel like you are living in a fairytale the whole time! I got married here in April, and we stayed at the venue for the full weekend with some friends. It was the most beautiful setting I could imagine for a an elegant southern wedding. Chris was extremely helpful throughout the entire process! He provided many suggestions, even right up until the weekend of the wedding where we made some last minute changes to our dance floor and lighting.
