I was a patient here this week. I was released yesterday. The staff are very professional and compassionate, and my fellow patients became a source of consolation for me. The food was surprisingly good for hospital food. The only thing that could use improvement is the amount of time doing physical activity. I transferred over to Bellin psychiatric help because there was no psychiatric help at MMC Dickinson. What a horrible mistake it turned out to be. I have Dr Lori Lowthert for my prescribing psychiatrist, and twice now she has written me a medication for something I was allergic to and instead of making sure that she reached back out to me prior to the six week follow-up appointment, she had her nurses READ to me a SEVERAL paragraph long letter about the DNA testing, and several other various reasons as to why she's not respo... read more
Dr. John Charles is the person you want to go to if you want to feed a crippling pill addiction. He had me on the maximum dose of Adderall to treat my ADHD within 18 months of my seeking treatment from him. Instead of lowering my dose when I told him I was having anxiety at the end of every work day, he gave me Xanax. It started at .25mg/day, but within two years, I was prescribed 2.5 mg/ day. I went there last year for marijuana withdrawal I was there for 10 days. I became psychotic and lost 50 pounds. I felt like I was going to die. My wife had me transferred to the hospital against doctors orders to save my life. My kidneys were failing. Worst experience of my life.
Not the best place… some of the staff were ok, but honestly it could’ve been so much better I almost got in trouble for something I never did, on my last day there they didn’t let us sit with each other during breakfast once everyone was done eating even though they always let us, the security guard was extremely rude, they forced injured people to do yoga and just forced them to do yoga in general when none of us wanted too, gave us terrible “coping mechanisms” that honestly just made it worse, the doctor belittled our symp... read more
