Outstanding Tea Shop, full of charm, great food, superb service and incredible almost dickensian feel.
A friend and I visited for afternoon tea and cake. Whenever I've tried to visit previously, it has been busy with no tables available, but on a midweek afternoon it was a lot quieter and we had a choice of tables. My ginger and salted caramel cake was delicious, and something a bit different from the usual cake varieties. The lady who served us was very pleasant and I loved the atmosphere. Hidden gem of a cafe,in Tarrant street.Great afternoon tea,choice of sandwiches,scone,jam and cream,massive cake,tea coffee or cold drink.Had to take our cakes home as too much food.
The toilet only had one mixed cubicle open . And that was dirty . The floor wet and sticky . Extremely grim old tap .sink Dirty . Dirty around tiles . Sadly needs them to invest some of that money they are taking to provide fresh clean toilets .
Well priced Pimm’s that went down well in the delightful sunny weather alongside a very filling chicken, bacon and leek pie. The chips were chunky and fluffy, though they could have been a tad crispier. However, the gravy was on the thicker side (to my liking) and had a good beefy flavour. Cozy atmosphere and a very friendly owner.
