Very nice lake to swim in pretty cold though so keep that in mind people like to jump off the bridge as well
I come here at least once a week for the last year and a half just to walk my Service Dog, River Roux. I personally love Bear Gulch in the off-season simply because it's a place to take in while in solitude. It's also a lot more fun to be able to walk on the river bed than to fight for parking with all the tourists. This place is a rare find and it would be best to take care of it so that generations to come could also reap its benefits. - Melanie Boling
Not sure what went wrong compared to others' visits, but we found no "peace" here whatsoever, contrary to other reviews. We were enticed by the photos and overwhelmingly positive reviews, and decided to take our 5 kids out to the lake, a little over 2 hours from home. We packed a picnic and mapped it to this supposed picnic site, which we never found. We would never actually get out of the car at all. A hidden gem by the lake 💧🌲 This is pretty much the only calm pull-off or little bay where you can walk right up to the water. Most other spots around the lake have steep drop-offs or tight little ledges. Getting here means a bumpy, dusty dirt road — but the peace and view? Totally worth it. 💙
