About this business

We are the only campground in America that has NO sign at it's entrance! This is due to Parkway regulations. There can be no commercial signs on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Follow the directions below and look for Milepost 324.8 and the road sign that states, "BEAR DEN MOUNTAIN ROAD Take exit 86. Go North on Hwy. 226 to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Go North on the Blue Ridge Parkway approximately 6 miles until you see a gate that the Parkway closes during inclement weather. Turn right on Bear Den Mtn. Spacious Skies Bear Den is my definition of perfect campground! It is stunning here! Large level sites, great amenities, well appointed cabins. I am so impressed with the staff and the work that has been done to repair the campground post Helene. Once the trees have been completely cleared you will never know what happened. It is still surrounded by beautiful forest and provides lots of shade.

This place was absolutely amazing! We camped from January 13 to 17, 2025. As Floridians, we were hoping to see snow—and wow, did we ever! The campsite was breathtaking, covered in a beautiful blanket of white. The staff was incredibly attentive and welcoming, making our experience even more special. We highly recommend this place. We were truly moved by the resilience of the people here—despite all they’ve been through, they have so much to offer.

We stayed at the Honey Bear Cabin on the edge of the Creek. We loved it. Cabin is super cozy and ideal for up to 3 people. Creek runs right on the back of the cabin and running water noise makes it very peaceful place. For hiking lovers, Bear Den offer various trails to explore and a great infrastructure. Spruce Pine is just 20 minutes away and you can get everything you need in there.

My three children with their families and my husband and I plan a Thanksgiving destination gathering each year. This year we choose Spacious Skies/Bear Den in Spruce Pine, NC, because we all love the mountains. When Hurricane Helena happened, we were concerned about our reservation, however, Brandy, the campground coordinator, kept us updated and we were so happy that our reservations did not have to be cancelled. And boy, were we pleasantly surprised. As we traveled through the mountainous road to get there, we saw a first-... read more
