We are the only campground in America that has NO sign at it's entrance! This is due to Parkway regulations. There can be no commercial signs on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Follow the directions below and look for Milepost 324.8 and the road sign that states, "BEAR DEN MOUNTAIN ROAD Take exit 86. Go North on Hwy. 226 to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Like everyone else, they got hit hard by the hurricane. Eventhough the Parkway is closed, no problem with access right in Spruce Pine. Fully staffed and obviously a tremendous amount of clean up has taken place and is ongoing. We went to the top of "white" trail without any great problems at all. It was great and quite a view as always. The fishing was a little better than usual. Grandkids had a great time as always. Gameroom was great. Can't wait to get back!!!!! Always a great time.
The staff of Spacious Skies - Bear Den are very friendly and helpfull!! The campground is open after hurricane Helen, and they are still cleaning up, but it is avilable (I stayed near the end of March 2025). All the sites have trees around them so it helps each site feel a bit more secluded. All the facilities are nice and clean too. If we're back in the area, we'll stay again!!!
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our camping trip this past weekend at the Spacious Skies--Bear Den Campground in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. Every single one of the staff members were extremely friendly, and the campground had plenty of fun activities for our entire family to enjoy. Come to the mountains!!! All these businesses are begging for you to come back and need your support. Just got back from a trip here. Our camper was down so we needed a cabin, they have so many options to choose from and the whole campground is so clean. Many level sites for when we do RV next time and lots to keep kids busy, playground, jump pillow, arcade. My favorite part is that it is so peaceful up here, fully wooded. Spacious Skies Bear Den is my definition of perfect campground! It is stunning here! Large level sites, great amenities, well appointed cabins. I am so impressed with the staff and the work that has been done to repair the campground post Helene. Once the trees have been completely cleared you will never know what happened. It is still surrounded by beautiful forest and provides lots of shade.
