My nightmare started when I was called in the room. She (don’t remember her name) brought me right in the imaging room. She was very abrupt with me. Seeing I was new in BC, she asked me when my last mammogram was. Very high strung. Couldn’t wait for me to reply. I finally had to tell her to give me a sec to think when it was. Once she coldly asked me more questions she then asked me to strip right in the room. No gown was offered and she never left the room. I was embarrassed, humiliated and felt dehumanized. Well I have had many mammograms over the last 20 years and today was the most humiliating experience I have ever had. I am overweight and the gown wasn't big enough, which I am use to. I have to hold it so that I am not exposed. Waiting in the small cubicle for my turn as there are other patients waiting as well. I hear are you ready? Not sure who they are talking to I stand up and she swings open my curtain while I am exposed to others at the reception area as I did not have time to wrap and hold the gown.
