Came here two separate times, very very nice caring staff. Everything was quick even wait time. Yes there was a moment of waiting as expected because it’s a hospital there’s other important matters and things take time to get results. Everyone knew what was going on with me and kept me updated while also keeping my boyfriend updated if he walked around a little with my baby. Way better than the Springfield hospital in all aspects! This is definitely my go to hospital but hopefully I won’t have to go back!
The staff is overworked and overwhelmed with having to serve so many people since Mary Lane closed. We had to have a bed in the hallway. The nurses were unkind and not patient with anyone. You could hear crying, groaning and screaming for the 7 hours we spent there, just to be sent home with no resolution. If you can, go somewhere else.
While I am glad that my elderly mother who came in by ambulance was able to pass her kidney stone so we didn't have to sit for an extended amount of time, there were a few things that I noticed in the wing baystate ER that is a bit alarming to me. First of all would be the mass groups of people sitting and waiting wearing masks, and there is a sign at the front desk that says yellow tier every everyone must wear masks. I showed up at around 10pm with my tonsil swollen with tonsil stones and my ear pounding from the pain. I can barely swallow and breathing through my nose hurts because the air is hitting my already inflamed tonsil. I understand there is a wait limit and I understand some people are more severe than others.
