About this business

A page taken straight from 19th Century Texas, Baxter's biggest draw may be its decor and location in Bastrop's historic district. The saloon-like wooden bar, towering ceilings and long, leisurely expanse bordered by red brick all exude small-town comfort. You'll find waiters dressed to the nines and as friendly as can be. The atmosphere here is casual yet refined, making it the perfect spot for a mellow evening out." - CitySearch

Hidden Treasure in Bastrop – Baxters on Main is a *fantastic* little restaurant hidden away in the historical district of Bastrop, TX. We happened upon it last Friday night after a local high school football game, simply driving around looking for a "local" style eatery. Our party arrived at 9:20 PM after the kitchen had already closed, but Terri the owner persuaded the kitchen to accommodate our last minute four-top. Not only was the food (parmesan crusted snapper, blackened swordfish with mango chutney, filet, ribeye) supe... read more

Great looks and style but forget the food quality – Looks nice outside and in, but the food doesnt reflect the looks. Bad tasting food at high prices. Ate there once would never go back.

Big city quality, small town charm. – This place is a real treat to have in my home town of Bastrop. Baxter's has the best of both worlds with the big city quality mixed with the small, historic town charm. I'm addicted to the filet mignon with a glass (or bottle!) of Messina Hoff. And I defy anyone out there to find a better Creme Brulee...anywhere! The absolute best eats in town by a mile! You city dwellers out there don't know what you're missing out here "in the sticks"! They definitely do it right at Baxter's!

Big city eatery and the best of small town atmosphere – Baxters has the best of big city eatery and the best of small town atmosphere, friendly owners and staff. You can spend an entire evening here and think you just arrived; the restaurant is that good - we have! My wife and I have been treated like family in the traditional Texas way, then delighted us with our selections. Baxters has always accommodated our hectic lifestyle and our desire to enjoy a meal with friends. Keep up the great work. JMT

A gem in downtown Bastrop – Having moved to Bastrop a year ago, the lack of a fine dining resturaunt was always a problem. We discovered Baxter's by word of mouth and gave it a try. The owner, Terri Knop greeted us at our table, and the wait staff was super. Food was wonderful, as was the choices of entrees and wine. It has truly become my favorite in town. The prices are very good for the quality of food and service as well.

Great Food and Lively Spirit – Passing through Bastrop, Texas I decided to stop in at a recommended Baxter's restaurant. I enjoyed a grilled chicken breast pasted with a heavenly pecan sauce that I see in my dreams at night. I also had the honor of tasting their margarita cheesecake. Bravo!!! 2 Thumbs up!!!
