I have ordered from here many times and had a good experience, however this time round I was disappointed - instead of receiving a small cod and chips as we had ordered, we instead received 2 fish strips which were overcooked and barely any meat.

⭐ 1/5 Apparently, Batterfry’s opening hours are more of a rough suggestion than actual information. We arrived before the advertised closing time, only to be told they close at 9pm — which would have been useful information to advertise somewhere before making the journey. The staff were equally impressive: completely unhelpful and seemingly confused by the concept of customer service. If you’re going to close at 9pm, perhaps advertise that you close at 9pm? Absolutely disgusting!!! I wouldn’t recommend eating from this establishment. It must’ve changed ownership recently. The chips were fried in the same oil as the fish, everything came burnt. To top it off, a “large” chips came smaller the previously small portion. Worst chippy I’ve ever experienced.

It used to be the best fish & chips in the area. Sadly, now it’s the worst. The large cod has become either two pieces of tiny rock-hard fish tail- all for an increased price. Very disappointing.

We ordered large haddock, chips and mushy peas for two. The chips were perfect, the mushy peas we’re pretty good but the haddock was uneatable. It came as two small pieces that had been cooked for so long that the fish was welded to the batter. It was impossible to get more than a few flakes of fish off the batter. The fish tasted good but you couldn’t separate it from the batter.
