We had an amazing and very giving experience here. We called ahead and it was so easy to find a time for a visit that suited us all. I forgot his name, but the man showing us the bats, were so good at giving fun and relevant information about the bats. I had a great time here, I would definitely recommend!
Call or email for a visit. It’s an amazing place and a great cause, you’ll learn a lot and see flying foxes up close. Pete is a great teacher and caretaker, and it’s great to see something uncommercialized in Kuranda.
I liked bats so much but after visiting this rescue center and learning more about them I am absolutely fascinated with them! Thank you for taking care of them and for your time!
Wonderful place! Google Maps will take you to the back entrance, but look RIGHT and youll see a sign for 'Kuranda CBD' and a bridge taking you up to the front entrance. Alternatively just approach from Coondoo st / Kuranda village. Every bat has an amazing story, we could have spent hours learning. (Donate as much as you can, every penny will help feed the bats and other critters that end up here.)
This was an absolute hi-light of our time in Cairns, and to be honest I’d say it’s worth the trip to Kuranda for Batreach alone. Pete clearly has a passion for these cute little things and he makes a wonderful host, we could have chatted to him all day. The centre is only open on certain days and you must pre-arrange but this was incredibly easily organised via email.
