I thought I needed a big French Drain all around my basement--these people didn't think that I did and they were right. By changing out old rotting basement windows for glass block with ventilators and cleaning all the downspout drains the water stopped coming in. Then they scraped the walls and ceiling and floor. Put a sealing mortar on the walls and then painted all exposed surfaces.
