In 2023, I did the Annapurna Base Camp trek with Petr and Prakash, who now operate Base Camp Himalayas — and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I did a cold-weather trek in Norway with Petr — just the two of us — and it gave me a lot of confidence in the kind of guide he is. We got hit with a snowstorm one night, and while I was a bit thrown off, Petr stayed really level-headed. He got the tent up fast, got a meal going, and made sure we were sorted for the night. A few years back, I set off to do the EBC trek on my own, and Petr was a massive help in getting everything sorted. He helped me book accommodation in Kathmandu, arranged my flights to Lukla, and gave me loads of helpful advice. He also introduced me to Prakash, his contact in Nepal, in case I needed help on the ground — which gave me peace of mind, even though I didn’t end up needing it. If you’re planning a trek in Nepal — whether guided or solo — I’d definitely recommend getting in touch with Base Camp Himalayas.

Custom designed hike up to Everest View Hotel above Namche. I had an outstanding three night, four day experience. Accompanied by Prakash as my trekking guide. Very knowledgeable and experienced. Super helpful and thoughtful. A great shortened itinerary specially put together for me by Petr in Sydney to work around my time constraints (Prakash and Petr are business partners).
