Bascom Lodge is a rustic stone and wood Lodge perched atop Mount Greylock in western Massachusetts. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's to provide accommodations for hikers, vacationers, and nature enthusiasts. Phenomenal location, but the curmudgeon running it spoils the visit. Trying to be kind, we asked what time we needed to leave as they close on Mondays. He sneared at us, 'I don't care what you do! " We did everything asked of us, complied with every rule, and still he barks when asked a question. He was the same way the night before. We paid for 5 people to stay overnight, had dinner and beverages and then breakfasts for all in the morning. Still, treated like garbage.
