We had a pleasant experience staying at Barewood Inn and Suites over the holidays! Check-in was fast and easy. Donna was so kind to supply some charcoal for us to use the grill by the picnic table. Rooms were so cozy, clean, and comfortable! We really enjoyed the coffee that they would stock daily for us. The motel has a beautiful view of the mountain and is very peaceful. This is one of those places that just gets everything right. The rooms were spotless, quiet, and comfortable, the beds were great after a long day of travel, and the little details like the fridge, microwave, and porch seating made it feel welcoming rather than generic. The staff were friendly and genuinely helpful, and the location is perfect if you want easy lake access without the noise or chaos. Simple, clean, peaceful, and exactly what you want in the Kern River Valley.

This is a terrible place. They’re not interested in renting you a room at all. My car broke down and I called them. They said they had availability. I walked over there in the rain on Christmas Day when I got there they did not open the door and they did not answer the phone. They told me they closed at nine. I got there by 8:30 must ring the doorbell 20 times, but nobody came again. They are not interested in renting rooms.
