With complaints of only MINOR discomfort but quite irritating I was told I had a rectal prolapse and given a stapling. I was 33. It is now 2 years later and after 2 corrective measures, by him as well, I can never use the bathroom properly. I cannot pass a bowel without great strain and sometimes not at all for days with a very high fibre diet and even supplements. My insides have descended from the pressure and he has completely ruined my quality of life. I am so angry at what he has done.
Dr barbe is retiring and he will definitely be missed...he's is one of the best surgeons in his field, he's honest and caring and he gave his patients good care , he took the time to listen and you just can't find that anymore....definitely big shoes to fill...
This physician treated my condition with an excessive amount of unnecessary surgical procedures, that I have since found out are not the standard of care. I am scarred emotionally and physically. Still considering a law suit for malpractice. He is arrogant and does not listen to your concerns. I belive if I stayed under his care I would be dead.
I would totally recommend Dr. Barbe. He was recommended to me by a friend. The doctor absolutely knows what he is talking about and will spend time talking to you about your concerns. I had surgery (hernia) on 1/9/17 and it went flawless. Went to his office for a checkup on the 17th. He checked out the surgery he had performed. If I wanted to talk for an hour I had the impression that he would. I couldn't ask for a better surgeon!
Dr. Barbe is an AMAZING surgeon. I was dealing with an issue for years and had basically given up assuming there was no hope. However, after visiting his office & taking his advice to have surgery, it was the absolute best decision EVER! He did a fantastic job!!! Although I'm currently still healing, I'm totally grateful that my issue has been resolved. And its only going to get better! Thank you so much Dr. Barbe & staff! Highly recommended!!!
I came in to the emergency room at Beaumont hospital Grosse Pointe he became my doctor and has made a different it's in my recovery and I can't thank him enough.
I met Dr Barbe after being admitted to Beaumont, Grosse Pointe with severe abdominal pain and illness. He took a conservative approach to my treatment, which ended up with major surgery. I had and still have confidence in Dr Barbe's ability and knowledge and on top of it all he is a genuinely nice person.
