As the father of a UCSB student (now grad), I have gone to several high quality restaurants in Santa Barbara. Barbareňo goes to another level. The eggamuffin is a riff on an Egg McMuffin and it is both imaginative and very tasty. The tritip and the strip steak each were delicious. The setting is comfortable and warm. If you go to just one restaurant in Santa Barbara, go here.
We had a very mixed experience: some elements were outstanding, but many were sub-par. **wedding reception review** We got married in SB and did a dinner reception at Barbareno May 2026. It was probably the best decision we made for our wedding. From the start, Elisa (the events manager) was easy to communicate with. We had no issues getting a contract and as the day got closer we came in to try our menu and she had arranged for a sommelier to meet with us to go over wine recommendations. They were really trying hard with the food but sometimes that just doesn't work. We shared the tri-tip, as a life long California that has had many different tri-tip this just didn't work. Very tender but not much flavor. Beet plate not sure everything that was in it but it seemed like the chef decided adding more ingredients was the ticket.
