I'm very happy I did this little boat tour to B.I. history of the place is very impressive. I had no idea that all the boat tours are often sold out. we had almost 50 passengers on the boat and they go few times a day ! I had no idea they have organized events on the island, they were preparing for Dracula play the next day. I was surprised how nice the flower garden was esp they don't have fresh water on the island , they do have very nice portable toilets on the island as you spending almost 2h on it . The Bannerman Castle tour was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The boat ride with Captain Steve was entertaining, and Jen's commentary on local history was a great way to start. On the island, the tour guide, Steve, was incredibly passionate, bringing the history of Bannerman Castle to life. We loved exploring the beautiful grounds after the guided tour. A highly recommended visit!
the details and story were wonderful and the male guide was great, very knowledgeable....so informative and very friendly, and the story is fascinating, the grounds were lovely this time of year, the view of the hudson was tremendous...worth going too....the boat ride was great and the steps were not bad at all...there are various landings in between the 72 steps...the boat ride over was tremendous and the captain was terrific
Overall we enjoyed the tour. We wish that the tour operator would have told us that the house, gardens, and shop, as well as some of the trails were closed due to a rehearsal BEFORE we got to the island. We would have rebooked for a different time. Poor communication. Surely the rehearsal could have taken place on the mainland or after the tours. Our tour guide excellent and was very apologetic. The theatre staff was rude.
