Had an AT-SF-165-12-IG alternator for my boat. Original brackets did not line up so needed to use an 8 rib pulley for extra reach. Alternator was brand new never even connected and the negative post somehow got loose which requires COMPLETE DISASSEMBLY OF THE SOLDERED PARTS OF THE ALTERNATOR. So that alternator was trash. Then I ordered a new model, XT-SF-250-K6, for like $1,600, and guess what, the pulleys need to be swapped, but the NUTS ARE DIFFERENT SIZES!!! And guess what else??? Useless alternators. Mine gave up after 500hrs. According the shop here on Martinique it is the regulator, but no spares available in the Caribbean or Europe. Better use your money wisely elsewhere.
When I first installed their regulator they were great and tech support was helpful. Today they are not. I replaced a couple year old smartshunt with their new NMEA capable smartshunt. They do not send updated install instructions, they don’t have them online, and tech support doesn’t answer the phone or call you back. Their email support is less than helpful.

Put a Balmar 250 alternator on my sailboat and the customer service is absolutely outstanding. As long as it takes they’ll help you get it done right. VERY knowledgeable and patient support staff.
