Great place for a date or to hang out at the bar. Really nice vibes, well made drinks and food to die for. The only thing I would consider a negative was the wait for the food. However, once it got there I couldn't slow down. Well worth the wait, found my spot to eat at in Quincy, well done

I got food poisoned after the octopus… We had been regulars at Ballast for almost a year, especially for the salmon and octopus. Unfortunately, the quality has been getting worse over time, with noticeable inconsistencies in both taste and preparation. Last night, the octopus was by far the worst we’ve ever had — we couldn’t even finish it and informed the waiter, who said they would check but nothing was done. Sadly, we ended up with food poisoning and spent the whole night awake. definitely won’t be coming back.

Just checked this out today for the first time & the steak frites and bread pudding were great! Friendly & fast service as well. Recommend a try!

Love kicking the weekend off at Ballast! The spicy marg is delicious and the cheeseburger and deep dish pizza are always a staple at my table. The hosts, servers, bartenders, and managers are warm and accommodating. Ballast is a great neighborhood vibe.
