The marine alternator I bought new from Ballard Electric lasted a grand total of 6 miles before it began to smoke and got very hot. Last October I brought it back to Ballard Electric, aka Ballard Alternator Repair, to have it checked. Finally after numerous calls I got the verdict today, May 7th (that's more than SIX MONTHS of waiting!!!). Apparently it "burned up" and that is "not covered under warranty" according to the owner. Was on my way to Ballard Electronics to pick up a starter when my outboard’s prop pin snapped. Jim didn’t hesitate — he jumped right in and helped me get it sorted even though that’s not what I came for. Total pro, knows his craft, and just a genuine guy with real heart.
