I've been coming here every February for 30 years, way back when it was a Westin and then a Sheraton and now part of Hilton. Prior to this year I would never have given a bad review. Just recently Bakers Cay instituted a new "valet only" policy where you cannot park or access your own car. You read that correctly, you now have to walk down to the middle of the resort to the valet table anytime you want to get something out of your car or leave the premises. pros: - nice beaches, liked the private beach features, tiki bar on the beach, etc. - they had some delicious cocktails - resort felt private and set back from the main road - enjoyed included amenities like complimentary morning fishing and paddleboarding cons: - resort food was overpriced and not good, with only 1 restaurant option on property - on our 2nd day, the room wasn't cleaned or serviced, and when I called to ask about this, it was hard to get in touch with the front desk - our room was just okay, I've stayed in m... read more
Our second visit. Since our visit last year the hotel has adopted a valet parking policy only for $35/day. The service was a joke. The valets never got our texts, were too busy chatting it up with guests or were too impaired to provide service in line with the daily fee. Very disappointing.
Wir waren hier nur für einen Zwischenstop für 3 Nächte. Der Strand und die Aussicht ein Traum. Die Poolanlage ok, der Whirlpool mit 40 Grad etwas zu heiß und ständig schmutzig (Sonnencreme), Dusche am Pool (Familienpool) nicht vorhanden. Gegessen haben wir an der Strandbar, war gut und Service sehr nett. Kleines Minus (für alle Raucher), rauchen jeglicher Art nur am Parkplatz gestattet - ungemütlich und keine Aschenbecher vorhanden.
Yes, the forced valet parking is ridiculous, but if an extra $35/day is going to ruin your vacation, don't come. Aside from that, the grounds are beautiful and incredibly well-maintained. The rooms are fantastic and taken care of by a wonderful housekeeping staff. The paddleboards and kayaks are brand new. What really makes Baker's Cay special is the staff.
