Dr. Baker is very nice and supportive. He was a great cheerleader for me. Having him as my doctor was a blessing and he really cares about his patients and has a very kind heart. He’s the only one that I know of that would bring ribs to a patient from home, that was hospitalized to lose weight before surgery, as a reward for losing a lot of weight. He truly cares. I wouldn’t have had any other doctor. As his patient and former employee at Baptist health-LR, I can say He’s the best.
He is very tough pre WLS. He wants to be certain patients understand this is serious. That it’s not a “quick fix” or an easy way out. He is very detailed with his expectations and verifying that both the patient and their spouse or support person (or people) know. I had my surgery in January of 2001. I lost 188 pounds and I’ve kept it off for 17 years. I look better now than when I was in high school. He is awesome. Changed my life. I had no skin removed or anything. I went from a size 26 to a 2 in about 8 months. You can’t even tel I was ever fat. I highly recommend Dr. Baker. If you follow his instructions it is worth it.
