Every bad review of this place is 100% true. Incredibly rude to anyone with kids. Don't waste your time or money. The shop is ugly as the attitude of the owner.
Beautiful shop with amazing fossils, rocks, and friendly service!
My 13 and 10 year old kids loved it. They each got a small container with gold flakes and they enjoyed the experience of leaning to pan that last about 1 hour. Just a cool vibe and the Doctor was super authentic
As noted by many many other reviewers, one of the owners is incredibly rude and especially dislikes children. I happened to be in the shop browsing and saw her stop talking to a customer so she could yell loudly at a pair of children who were just walking in with their parents. She proceeded to complain loudly about all tourists with her shocked customer and tried to do the same with me before I left to write this review. Should've checked the reviews before coming in. Really cute spot to do panning for gold with your kids. Just off the main strip, they have tons of rocks and gemstones to purchase, which wasn't really our thing. We wanted to do some panning with our kids, and after we tracked down one of the owners Steve, the kids really loved it. The owners are some interesting characters, but Steve was great at explaining and showing how to pan, and our girls left with a little bit of gold. Was $30 a person, so not cheap, but a fun thing to do in Skagway.
