About

Pietro Avolio spent much of his time growing up in his mother's cozy kitchen nestled in Pacentro, Italy. When the Avolios found their way to Covina, he continued to spend countless hours perfecting those homemade sauces, noodles, and breads. So when you dine at Avolio's Italian Restaurant, every bite holds a morsel of our family history. Take a look at our expansive menu and order a dish or three -- this way, you'll walk away with plenty of leftovers. If you can't make it over, no problem: With takeout, delivery, and catering options, we've got you covered.

I was going to this restaurant several times in the past. One night I went there with my family, the waitresses decided to charge me for more bread and refills on sodas. Also we would ways get one plate and divide it in half because the large size. This last time, they wanted to charge me an extra 5 bucks to do that!!!

A diamond in the rough. A quaint family run business. The pizza is, in my opinion, the best in the San Gabriel Valley. If you can get only item, I'd get the pizza.

With so many one off hole-in-the-wall-mom-n-pop pizzerias out there, Avolio's rises above and shouldn't be even grouped with so-named places. The pizza is wonderful and their Fettuccine Alfredo can't be beat either. Well worth the time and money.

From Best to Worst, Sad to Say Avolio's is now horrible. – This used to be one of my favorite restaurant...for roughly 10 years. They have sunk to a new low. I ordered salmon pasta, and was given tuna fish with pasta. The distinct odor of Tuna was my first clue, the absolutely stark white-ness of the cooked meat was my second, and the fact that it tasted like tuna and not salmon was my final. After asking them to confirm they had cooked the right meat, and not mistakenly given me something else, the waitress discussed with the chef, returned and confirmed that salmon indeed does turn WHITE and not PINK when cooked. Never going back. I appreciate the remodel, and respect the 5-10 dollar per plate price increase, however don't urinate in my cup and tell me it's lemonade; and don't demand that i pay for it. please report these people to who ever check these types of things for legal issues.

Pizza Good Pizza for take out. Haven't tried other Italian food options but have heard from friends that they are really good but definitely create heartburn. Prices are good, wait is unpredictable but best if you call ahead.

Awesome, Maybe Best Italian Food in the SGV! – It's a wonderful, quaint family-run atmosphere at Avolio's. The food is tops, maybe the best Italian food in the San Gabriel Valley. They have a wonderfully spicy pasta Arabiata, their fettucine Alfredo is tops and the pizzas are wonderful. Their Eggplant Parmigiana sandwiches are especially delightful. Mr. Avolio operates the place with his wife and family, and they treat you like one of their own. The restaurant is in a non-descript building near the corner of Vincent and San Bernardino Road -- I swear it used to be an old 7-11 -- and over the years the Avolio's have steadily made improvements. What's really fantastic is the rustic old-world feeling that one gets when they sit down for a meal. It's like walking into a Brooklyn scene from Goodfella's or something except without the gangsters. I've been to some of the best restaurants in Los Angeles and paid fantastic amounts for food, but I think it's these small places that touch you the most with their homey attention to food, service and atmosphere. I've got to say Avolio's puts Petrillo's on the run for the best Italian food in the SGV, let alone Los Angeles. Avolio's is definitely some of the best tasting, gritty home-style Italian food you will ever find, unless of course you land in Brooklyn or maybe Italy.
