I recently returned a car to this location that I have been renting from for several years now. Jordan has always been kind, courteous and professional. Upon returning the car they could not issue me a receipt because they were having computer and printer issues. I later checked my email and had a receipt and noticed I was overcharged from the original price I locked in on. I printed my receipt and took it back to the Avis office. Awful! Just got off the phone with Avis. Two extra charges given by Tomas and deposit fee of $200 not reimbursed. We picked up and dropped off within the designated timeframe. At pick-up time our level of car that we reserved was not available, Tomas said the upgrade would be free. We were charged for the upgrade and also charged for an extra day when the car was returned on time. It is supposed to take a week for Avis to take care of this and give us our money back (with an expedited case number). Wish we could call T... read more

This place just sucks. Had a car reserved for 6pm which we discovered upon arrival that they close at 6pm and would not answer their phone or door despite arriving a few minutes early. We then proceed to pick up the reservation the next morning before 9am and they informed us that they don't have any cars to fulfill our reservation and would have to pay a significant fee to get a much larger vehicle instead. If I could give negative 5 stars I would! Do not use Avis at the airport. The manager “Chris” at this location is the worst person and manager, in which this is the face of the airport Avis service center. He has no customer service skills whatsoever and not friendly at all. The way I was talked to in front of the Manager “Chris” and the way he let it happen was unacceptable. I think the 5 star reviews for this place are not real and are done by the management. Based on MY experience and the number of 1 star reviews on Google and other sites, I think it’s safe to say this place should be avoided at all costs. The manager is a smug, childish sleaze bag.
The Avis Sheraton Hotel Old Town Alexandria location offers unbeatable service! I travel a lot for business, and this place is one of the best. Matt is fantastic and always goes above and beyond to ensure I’m cared for. Whenever I return a rental, he makes sure to find out if there is anything that could make my experience better the next time. Now that’s service! Matt is efficient and personable and is a great representative for Avis.
