Run from corrupt Avis. Instead, rent from Enterprise. Same experience as other Reviewers have noted, Avis is corrupt. On 4/18/2026, I was corruptly charged $50 fuel surcharge upon checking in my rented vehicle. The front staff were coy about the matter and were not upfront. They proceeded to charge me and take the keys away from me so that I was 'trapped' with no options. Da uns ein anderer Mietwagen-Anbieter spät am Abend im Stich gelassen hat (Thrifty), sind wir an den Nachbarschalter zu Avis. Hier wollte man anscheinend unsere Not ausnutzen und hat 5000 $ für ein SUV für 14 Tage verlangt. Frechheit.

Rented through priceline as a package deal for a flight. Was told that Avis did the scheduling. Assume it was automatic but it had me picking the car up at the Springfield location which was closed way before my flight arrive. Called Avis which sounded like a call center in Uganda. To pick up at the airport was going to be an additional $700. I just canceled and went with Enterprise.

Rented van in Springfield Missouri. The van had recently had a windshield replaced on the floor in the front seat. The windshield was so dirty you could still see the spots where the suction cups were used to replace the windshield. The rest of the Interior also needed to be vacuumed and cleaned. Ran out of windshield washer fluid the first day and had to purchase a gallon of windshield washer fluid. Still wondering if we're going to get reimbursed for that or not.
