As a Preferred Customer I have never had a bad experience with Avis until San Diego. I reserved a gas sedan through Avis expecting a smooth trip to Scottsdale, Arizona. Instead, I was handed an electric vehicle that was only charged to about 35%. On most days I would have preferred an EV as I own one myself, but with no Tesla Supercharger adaptor and the long trip through the desert I voiced my concern to the front desk - they told me just download this app and you'll find one. I have been a customer at this Avis location for approximately three to four years. I have a strong preference for the local-owned and managed branch over the corporate franchise. The staff here knows me by name and is familiar with my preferences, which makes the experience more personalized and enjoyable. They consistently go above and beyond to ensure that my needs are met, providing exceptional service that I greatly appreciate.

Don’t do business here. Work for a company that has a business rate for us to book with Avis. Booked online, it showed multiple cars and rates available, all under $50. I showed up and the man said he had no cars but 2 and he would have to charge 5 times the original rate— I walked out the door but update your availability on the app. False advertisement and cancel my reservation if you can’t honor it or upgrade my car if you don’t have it available like most locations do. Disappointed with my experience at Avis San Diego. After checking in, I was simply handed the keys and told to walk to the lot to find my car—no assistance or guidance. I was told the gas tank was full, so I left to pick up my family. Once on the road, I noticed the tank was actually less than half full. I called to report the issue, and the woman I spoke with said I could return it at the same level but would still be charged. Completely unacceptable and frustrating.
