DO NOT USE AVIS! Extremely disappointing experience. I booked a convertible, a comparable vehicle, and a GPS, but when I arrived Avis had neither the vehicle I booked nor a comparable alternative, and no GPS was available. I was simply told that it “doesn’t matter what you book — you get whatever is available on the day.” That is completely unacceptable. Booked through Costco and had an excellent experience with Avis at 230 Harbor Way. Pre-check-in made things even easier. Picking up the Subaru Forester on Wednesday took less than two minutes, and returning it Saturday morning was just as quick. The car was a clean, relatively new two-year-old model, and the $220 rental price was great. The additional $200 deposit seemed pretty standard to me.
