I’m a President’s Club member and have exclusively rented through Avis across the country. Unfortunately, the service at the Gainesville location was the most rude and disrespectful I’ve experienced. When I asked to speak with a manager, the employee initiated a FaceTime call and abruptly put the camera in my face. This was highly unprofessional and inappropriate. I will not be renting from this location again.
I was given a Chevy Equinox with front damage, a check engine light that was on, a warning that front collision detection and cruise control would not work, and indication that there is reduced acceleration and to use caution. There are no options for other vehicles and no way to contact Avis at the airport to fix this. Customer service is of no help. I have had issues with Avis in the past, but renting unsafe vehicles is ridiculous. Never rent here.
Avis locations do not communicate with each other nor communicate with Avis headquarter. After taking the car (which was smell and dirty), it shake so bad, i called in the center and was told to drive to Gainsville (which is 45 mins off highway) to exchange another van, they guarantee there is one available, I asked them to call that location to make sure, they say they wont and advised me to. We are so beyond thankful for Miranda’s quick response to get us back on the road! We originally rented a car in West Chester, OH only for it to almost fall apart due to not being repaired after an undisclosed accident. We swapped into various vehicles at CVG Airport (all had oil issues/were not maintained at all and therefore not safe for our 16 hour drive/10 day rental).
