Update: I responded to the very unhelpful message below and only heard back from them AFTER we returned the car. No apologies. Nothing. I wish there was a zero star option. Original post: This is by far the worst Avis in the country. I rent here three times a year and every vehicle has problems. And oh by the way, none of the employees feel the need to help with the problem rental cars. Today the Mazda they rented me wouldn’t start because the key fob battery was dead. I love that Avis let's you choose your car when you arrive at the airport, so it's exactly what I did, I choose my car. BUT when i got to the counter to pick up my keys, the young lady said it was too much of an upgrade for me and that they had put me in a different vehicle. The options that the Avis app gives you depends on your status level which I have "President Club" status. I was quoted an estimated total of $734.21 for a one-way rental from San Antonio to Grand Rapids, MI. After the rental, I was charged $1,698.67. The estimate included a full cost breakdown but failed to clearly state that no mileage was included, despite the nature of the trip being disclosed from the moment of booking. I only received a $261.80 refund from Avis-- after I pointed out a mileage error — not as a resolution to the misleading estimate.
