Avoid at all cost! The avis rental at the Hilton (333 O Farrell St) is friendly and they have nice cars. Go there!
One star. If I could give zero, I would. This is the third time I've booked a specific car with Avis on Embarcadero, only to show up for a planned weekend trip and find out they don't have it, or they try to force me into an EV when I specifically booked a compact car, or they have nothing at all. You rarely get the car you book and they will often push an EV on you. The car quality has been on the worse side. Cars haven’t been properly cleaned as I experience at other Avis locations. The staff is fine. In line with what you should expect at about any rental car agency. The location is convenient if you’re in the city.
They usually don't have gas cars even if you don't reserve an EV, you will end up having them most of the times. Also they need more staff. There is big line specially over holidays and weekends.
extremely slow service. Made us wait for over an hour in a line with an appointment. Was especially grueling as we were traveling with a toddler. The guy at the counter thinks his job is to get to know everyone personally and solve their life issues. Somebody needs to coach him that his job is to help folks get into a car and be on their way.
