At first we blamed delusions. On days he wouldn’t wake up, or his speech was unusually slurred, we blamed the dementia. But the family began to notice more: his clothes were filthy, his hearing aids were never charged. Injuries were “falls”. His toenails were so neglected that we feared he could lose at least one toe. The decision to place my family member in someone else’s care was a difficult one. The moment I met with Kiley, I was comfortable with my decision. The facility was clean, open floor plan , and the employees all had smiles. They quickly got to know my family member and took the time to account for his preferences, likes and dislikes. Spoke to him by name, always treating him with respect. Of the other facilities I visited, Avalon is hands down the best!
Mom was in the best care I could have ever imagined at Avalon Memory Care. I found this place to be my second home. Several times per week I would look forward to visits and got to know the staff, all the residents and their families. Avalon has a warm, home-like feel, not a cold facility feel. The time and attention the staff gave mom was above and beyond just their job. They loved her like their own mother and made her feel like the queen she was. Thank you Avalon. I am in awe of the compassionate care provided by Avalon. My grandmother has been here for a few months now. I was quickly, and consistently have been, blown away by the genuine care, patience and immense sweetness shown to my grandmother by staff members.
