I applied for legal aid from TRLA/Austin Tenants Council due to a mold problem in my apartment that my landlord/property management refused to repair/remediate in a reasonable amount of time. - To apply, I called and waited on hold for 30 minutes (this can be up to 2 hours, in my experience) - Then did intake for an hour. I really hoped that I would be able to get some help. The phone alternated between telling me I was on hold and ringing, until after 15 minutes it went to a busy signal.

Council needs a lot of help. Funding, expanded staff, better protocols for efficient respond times. A little over a year ago, I needed assistance to get my landlord to a meeting table and discuss how they allowed her tenant arrangement at one of her properties to become unsafe over a demonstrated history of patterns and behaviors exhibited by one of the tenants (who had a guest deceased in their room due to a drug overdose).
