In 2004, I suffered a catastrophic wrist injury and was not able to move my lower arm nor hand AT ALL! No other orthopedic doctors in Austin could help me. I thought my career as a choral/orchestral conductor was over. Dr. Lown performed a remarkably innovative new surgery that removed redundant tendons from my arm to rebuild those that had been completely destroyed in the wrist. My range of motion returned to 95%! My career as a professional musician had been saved by the wonderful Dr. Lown!
Dr. Ira Lown is a total clown who ruined my hand for life. I had a broken metacarpal and asked for the titanium plate. He said he recommended the pins vs. plate, so I went with pins. He did sloppy work, did not put the bones together properly, and it all fell apart a few weeks later, not to mention the tendons fused to the skin on the back of my hand so I can't move my fingers properly. I had to have him redo it with the plate, a second time, against his wishes, which I had to pay for out of pocket AGAIN, although he did the... read more
I went to Dr. Lown after breaking my finger on a hike. He and his staff are very friendly and professional! The care and follow up was great!
Dr. Lown and the entire staff were great! Cut my tendon on my left index finger, got into surgery right away and had great follow up! Thank you!
The staff members are great and service excellent. My appointment was right on time and the treatment received appreciated.
Left wrist arthritis and right hand carpal tunnel syndrome--ambidextrous. Austin Hand has served me well and helped alleviate my discomfort and, to this point, avoid surgery. Thank you.
I went in to get my wrist looked at, the doctor diagnosed me. In about a week I was in surgery. After my surgery they not only contacted me that day but had several follow up calls to make sure I was experiencing the normal things. I would trust them for any hand procedure you have!
Great staff, Dr. Lown is very professional & we liked that he was conservative in his treatment approach - didn't just immediately suggest surgery. Also impressed w/ the fact that every appointment we had was on time!!!
As I discovered a few years ago that I am prone to trigger finger, I've dealt with Dr. Lown and everybody at the office a number of times, had steroid injections, physical therapy, day surgery, and for the most recent one, an in-office tendon release. Dr. Lown offers the conservative approach first and guides you through your options. My hands work great because of the wonderful care I've received at Austin Hand Group, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. I'm even willing to drive MoPac under construction to get there!... read more
