The teachers at Auldern are amazing and as a former student who now works with young people who struggle due to mental illness resulting from childhood trauma and abuse, I now have a much greater appreciation for my therapist at Auldern and the often difficult therapeutic work she had me do while I went there. I definitely was not an easy student or client to deal with and tried many times to get my parents to pull me from the program, but looking back am thankful they didn’t. As an ex student please don’t send your daughter here. A direct quote from the officer who saved my life the day I walked and sat right off the property with 3 staff right next to me, “Are you insane? You’re job is to keep these girls safe and she’s been telling you she hasn’t been feeling safe with herself? Take her to the hospital. Horrible institution and thankful it’s closing its doors. Kids did what they wanted and ran all over the staff. My child ended up far worse going there than before she went in. I can’t even type all I want too after wasting an enormous amount of money and needing to pull her out, and then having to send her to receive the correct structured treatment. Thankful other families won’t waste their money, energy and emotional well being.
My wife and I will forever be grateful for the dedicated team of professionals at Auldern Academy who helped us get our daughter “back”. Our Educational Consultant recommended our daughter go to a wilderness program first, where she spent nearly 3 months before enrolling at Auldern Academy.
