My experiences with Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans’ Hospital have been extremely disappointing and concerning. I have gone there with legitimate medical needs expecting to receive competent care, compassion, and respect. Instead, I have repeatedly felt dismissed, poorly treated, and as though serious medical concerns were not being taken seriously. We have been trying to get my husband in for a total hip replacement surgery for 2wks. A week ago he was given a steroid shot and was told that he does need hip surgery but “lets see how long the shot last.” It may have lasted 4 days. Have been calling the VA and his PCP to get him on the books for hip surgery because he cannot walk. He is in so much pain. I was recently admitted here for over a week due to complications with a rare disease called iga Vasculitis. The care that I received here was better than I could have ever dreamed. I felt so supported and taken care of the whole time. All the doctors and nurses were doing everything they could to ease my pain while trying to figure out what was wrong with me.
