I went there for a torn bicep. They took one x-ray. After spending 8 hours there, the doctor came in to the room without even looking at my arm and said there are no broken bones. So we're going to give you Tylenol and send you home. When I asked him to look and showed him my arm. He had an "oh crap" moment and completely changed his diagnosis. Coming to this VA for the past 3 months has been like walking through hell. I do not get the services I need. It's extremely difficult navigating through uneducated employees attitudes in order to get ANYTHING done at this VA, in SEVERAL different departments. Will follow up with an official federal complaint.
It just shell of its former self a year ago. The staff is still doing a great despite all the financial cut. The building maintenance has really took a hit, the bathrooms are dirty with tile missing or damaged collecting grime and germs. The main halls and cafeteria floors are worn needing maintenance and/or replacement. These are just symptoms of really going on these hollowed ground.
Not a safe VA facility for any veteran, but this facility is specifically not a safe, professional or effective hospital for LGBTQ+ veterans, young veterans, PTSD survivors & vets dealing with S.I. If you just moved here and have to stay in Atlanta, work towards getting your VA healthcare referrals for the outpatient VA clinics and be prepared to fight EVERYONE for what you need & be prepared emotionally to still not get it. Very clean inside and out. Amazing customer service throughout this facility. Medical staff exceed my expectations. They make you feel like a VIP.
