Dr Atkeson is a superb cardiologist. He is treating me since I got COVID and had a stroke 2 days later. He truly listens, truly cares, and his staff is excellent. He takes all the time needed at each visit and I know I’m in good hands. I’m thankful he’s my doctor, and so is my family.
When my late husband was taken care by Dr Atkeson, my hubby already had a very advance heart condition. He is very thorough, knowledgeable , best part he listens , does his best for his patients. . God bless him.

I have seen him several times, and he is very thorough, and patient with me. My visits have been long enough for me to discuss issues with him, and he does not rush me. He is very knowledgeable, and explains everything to me, I highly recommend Dr Atkeson.
I have been with Dr. Atkeson for one year after wasting my time with NP's at Rex . I have a very tough disease that was finally diagnosed at Duke. Dr. Atkeson knew I had a serious issue and made all the right referrals and they worked. I saw Dr. Wu at Rex and then Drs. Fortin and Gehrig at Duke. While I am never going to beat my affliction, I am feeling incredibly well for someone who was not supposed to see Christmas 2019. I saw Dr. Atkeson one time and will never go back again. I had been suffering malnourishment from a rare syndrome and needed to have my heart checked out.I told him I have mitral valve prolapse. He told me I did not. He was rude. I have since found another cardiologist who in fact showed me that yes I do have mitral valve prolapse. I would not recommend this doctor. Both Thumbs down.
Dr Atkeson was very thorough and gave a feeling of concern. He had me have some blood drawn for a test and said "he'd" call me with the results whether good or bad. I immediately thought "yeah, I'm sure." He's a man of his word and called me just before 9pm that night with results. And it wasn't life or death results...but still he called. Highly recommend him if you're having issues.
