The folks at Aster Gardens don't just provide a service to their residents, but are also community minded in that they work with other organizations in Sherwood Park as well. For example together with WE Seniors they have hosted crib and scrabble tourneys and they provide space in their parkade for the Sherwood Park Men's Shed to use for woodworking, and when the WE Seniors space suffered a flood they stepped up to provide Men's Shed some meeting space while repairs for the flooded space are being done.
I am with the Men’s Shed and we meet here every Wednesday afternoon and what a great place with great people.
My name is Riley and I’m the leader of the Men’s Shed in Strathcona County. Our workshop is located in the basement of Aster Gardens. For over 2 years now they have assisted us in serving the community and providing a safe place for senior men to gather to find purpose in their lives and just enjoy being with ‘the guys’ again. The staff are incredibly supportive and attentive to the residents who seem to be more ‘alive’ here than in most senior residences. This truly is a community where you can enjoy retirement.
We have our weekly Men’s Shed workshop at Aster Gardens. They are very accommodating to all our needs. The staff is always very friendly and helpful.
