My policy was canceled when I moved to a new address and went w a new insurance company for renter’s insurance. They were still taking my money for 9 mo. I called and they said it wasn’t canceled. So they canceled it and gave me a refund for that mo. They emailed me a form to fill out and instructions on info I needed to provide to get a full refund for the previous months. They put the “ASS” in “ASSURANT.” Absolutely no communication despite it saying “will send you an email within 2-3 days.” Emailed and texted every week which were ignored; no word until it was closed out a month later with a terrible job of assessment. Poor assessment with very incorrect “replacement costs” because they used completely different products that were not the original product and completely incorrect size despite all my receipts and quotes. This company would be exceptional if they honored the policies they themselves put into place. They do not value costumers, and I highly doubt that companies will continue to merge with them for much longer. When you call their costumer service they will admit that the policy was broken but not help you any further and continue to say they cannot override the system and essentially they're unable to help you in any matter because the policies. No communication. A tree fell on my rental house during Hurricane Ian and caused my son's ceiling to cave in and collapse. I submitted pictures and documentation to all of their portals and they closed my case! Then a lady called me asked me the same questions the initial agent asked, said she'd call right back... that was almost 2 weeks ago!!!
