I've been dealing with hyperthyroidism for over a decade. There were a few years when I could keep my T3 and T4 levels within the normal range without medication, even though my TSH was relatively low. However, I had to use medication to manage my hyperthyroidism during my pregnancy, starting when I first consulted with Carolyn. I was under the care and attention of Assoc Prof Carolyn Allan at Prince Henry's Institute for at least eight to ten years or maybe more. She was treating me for Klinefelter Syndrome. I would go into her surgery and sit in front of her desk, we would chat for a few moments as if she had all the time in the world instead of being one of the most overworked endocrinologists in the Institute.
