A simply magical spot that provided us with an amazing Fat Bike adventure. Michaela, Leo, Sol and Renee welcomed us into their home (Big Eddy Lodge = Mistahpigumiwak) with open arms and valuable insight into their Metis way of life. I'm celiac and they went out of their way to provide gluten-free options the entire time we were there. The trails are immaculate and Sol's stories will want you coming back for more! Will definitely go back!
My time at Aski Holistic adventures was incredible. I participated in the Escape the Hooved Man 2025 fat bike experience there. Michela Carrière and her family are wonderful hosts and they have lots of stories to tell. I learned a lot about the Saskatchewan River Delta and traditional Metis culture. Food was excellent, gluten free and vegetarian options were available (and very tasty). The cabins were very warm when I visited in February. The fat bike trails were impeccably groomed and a lot of fun.
The Carrière family at Big Eddy Lodge do an amazing job of opening up and sharing their lives, culture and knowledge. They are welcoming and accommodating. The Escape the Hooved Man Fat Bike race was a hilight and such a great way to explore and discover this special part of our country.
I don’t know where to start , the Escape the Hooved man event was a retreat for me ! Everything is designed so meticulously and wisely from the 32km ride over night to selection of food , conversations and all aspects of this memorable event was beyond my imagination ! The whole weekend was -19 to -40 and yet I didn’t feel the cold at all and weekend went by so quickly . The warmth you receive from this family is indescribable!
