I love the architecture of this quaint and beautiful building, which was constructed in 1922. The apartment building is Long Beach Historic Landmark no. 16.52.200. The Artaban is named after the "fourth" wise man, a priest of the Magi named Artaban who went to see the child Christ, but was delayed by saving another child. During his 33 year search for Christ, he performed many charitable acts. He made it to Jerusalem in time for the crucifixion, but spent his last treasure to pay a ransom to save a girl from slavery.
