I was recommended a multipurpose construction sand by a staff member at this Armstrong location as a solution for fungus gnats in my container garden. I followed the advice and added it to many of my planters, only to later learn that this type of fine sand can actually trap moisture and worsen gnat problems in containers. It’s not horticulturally appropriate and shouldn’t be recommended for this purpose. Overall, this is definitely my go-to spot for all things gardening in Santa Monica. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area! From the moment you walk in there, you are greeted by a vibrant array of plants and flowers that instantly lifted the spirits.
