I tripped and fell while running on a gravel road, injuring my nose, forehead and arm. I am 77 years old. On arriving in Emergency, I was assessed quickly by the triage nurse with a blood pressure check and asked to wait to see a doctor. It took several hours to be seen - which was understandable given the number of people in the waiting room. I was very happy with the emergency doctor - Dr Khan - who was competent and professional. I am absolutely livid regarding my grandfather’s recent experience in the Armidale Emergency Department. My grandfather, who is 89 years old and frail, presented to the Emergency Department and was left waiting from approximately 5:00 pm until after midnight. Despite his age and vulnerable condition, he was not provided with timely care or appropriate support during this extended period. Waiting for 4 hours to see a doctor and yet they are not sure when can I see a doctor. What a joke!!!!
