My son's SMO has broken twice since receiving them in August 2019. They have broken within a week of him wearing them. We just got them back from the second repair, and the strap was put on the wrong side of the SMO. The SMO has been in repair for twice as long as my son has worn it.
I have foot drop, and as a result have had to use many different devices for dorsiflexion. When my doctor recommended an orthotist, I thought it would end up being for just another device that would ultimately break, or lack in function. What I got was an AZ AFO split upright brace, that has been the best one I've ever used. Yes, you're limited in what kind of footwear you can wear, but not so much that it is a hindrance. Only 1 full day and the difference is amazing..swelling has gone down. I have the ability to actually walk.
