Absolutely loved the whole staff at Applecross. They were very effecient and did everything to save our Tony. Their compassion in handling his end of life was amazing and we are forever grateful. Since Julie Lamb no longer owns the clinic and a large corporation VCA has taken over, I find its not about supporting the needs of a already diagnosed cat but getting more profits. More exams will not help my cat, the funds should be spent on keeping him comfortable.
Got us in quickly which I was grateful for. My old girl had an ear infection and likely a urinary tract infection, which was confirmed and got meds for both. I was concerned about her lung and asked for an x-ray. They couldn't do it then (?) so I would have to book a second appointment! Then the quote was for $885. including "sedation" and "catheter placement" and sending it out to a radiologist for "interpretation". Even with the change from an independent practice to being owned by VCA (most veterinary clinics in Nanaimo are now owned by VCA), this clinic has been the best to me. They were great with me when my senior dog passed in January of 2025, and now that I have a new family member, they were great again with our visit yesterday. My own experience has been that they aren't pushy, give you the options that are available and try to help you the most they can while also operating a business.
Huge thanks to Applecross for getting all the examinations and paperwork done for my Westie to return to the UK. So much detail and care went in to get all the documents accurate and in time for travel. Tallie was super chilled and relaxed while she waited for her paperwork.
