It’s not just for “old white people” like some claim. All private lake communities have rules. I don’t understand what rules they have a problem with. You are only expected to keep you property clean, you can’t make excessive noise in the middle of the night (because it’s not just a summer place some of us live here year around), pay attention to no wake zones. I've lived here 9 years and have had zero issues. I used to live in a community in Indianapolis with a POA, and had nothing but problems. I said I would never live in a POA community again, but I read the bylaws and didn't have a problem with them. The rules aren't strict. I haven't heard a negative word from the POA the whole time I've lived here. The bottom line is: Don't move to a POA neighborhood unless you check it out first. It is a very beautiful area. The lake is especially nice with a good marina at the north end. There is also a recycling collection area at the association building.
